We’re often asked if AMP grazing can work where it snows. Short answer - it can save you lots of money, hay, and time no matter where you live!

Brandi Mitchell of Mitchell Cat Creek Farm in Hershey Michigan joined Roots So Deep scientists Jason Roundtree and Janice Swanson for a panel after our screening at Michigan State University.

As a regenerative farmer in Michigan, Brandi knows a thing or two about snow!

She shared her experience unrolling hay in winter to feed her cattle and the soil for the Spring.

As she says:”five months later, greed stripes and productive forage everywhere we unrolled.”

When farmers work with nature and focus on soil health, the benefits can be surprising!

Check out our channel to see how James Rebanks in the UK avoids feeding hay in winter conditions by growing dense, diverse forage for his cattle!

We are in central
kY beginning our 3 rd year on this natural plan. What a difference we have noticed in our soil and our cows.. we are a small operation, 100 acres and 40 ish head.. it’s our retirement chapter. Our I inspiration was Greg Judy during the Covid pandemic. We have learned so much from your channel, it’s inspiring, our little
Place reflects your message. Thank you so much.

I don't know how it can be accomplished but this continent needs the bison back in profusion again. They can't be factory farmed of course but I don't think cattle can in any time span accessible to us fill the space they filled in the same ways. You can certainly improve as often talked about on here at least

Is she a farmer on social media? I am looking for farmers sharing their experience in cold winter states, like wherebi live. Seems most of the farmers you show are in the south. Which is still very informative, but i obviously have some unique elements i need to understand better weather wise.

Are farmers doing this also informing their elected officials? As a non-farmer, I think you’ve convinced a significant number of the public, so we need to get the farm bill changed to help farmers that may need help shifting, getting “the big guys” to share profits with the ones making the profits possible.
