A boxer and ex-convict from East London faces life in prison in the Philippines on accusations that he was the head of a gang that waged a “reign of terror” that included kidnapping, extortion and drug trafficking, over a Makati red-light district. Darren Wall was arrested on March 23, 2022, alongside his wife, 23-year-old Kharney Jane Abejo, after allegedly brandishing a gun at a nightclub. Police confiscated a 9mm Beretta pistol and six grams of cocaine. If convicted, the 44-year-old faces 18 years without parole in Manila’s notorious New Bilibid Prison.

A convicted criminal enters the Philippines legally and immediately runs criminal gang.

Philippine immigration need to be stricter with these sort of people.

There was a drug dealer in the Bangkok hilton who was given a life sentence of a 150 years. He appeals that judgment was too harsh and after serving 10 years the court heard his appeal. The judge said we admit your sentence of a 150 years is too harsh we have now reduced your sentence. YOU WILL NOW SERVE 100 YEARS .

A life in prison at a Philippine jail is worse than the death penalty. You’d spend the rest of your life crammed like sardines with other sweaty, grown men. You literally have to sleep standing on some jails there.

That's the roughest looking 44-year-old I've ever seen, thought he was 60.

Truly lovely, he is very lucky that he was caught in the Philippines and not the neighboring states! It would've been death sentence no arguments, though i assume living in a place like Manila Prison your whole life is objectively worst..

He's lucky. in ASEAN country only the Philippines and Cambodia which abolished capital punishment. 8 other countries still implement the death penalty. but on 17 Nov 2020 Cambodia, Malaysia, and the Philippines voted to support the resolution calling for a moratorium on the use of capital punishment.

The last execution to be conducted was in Singapore (30 March 2022), a singaporean was executed for trafficking a total of 66.77 grams of diamorphine.

I have been living in the Philippines for 20 years and I see things like this all the time. By that, I mean foreign nationals who come here thinking they can act however they like and not learn to adapt to the culture. Whether they are criminals or not, coming here acting rich and entitled never goes over well. I can tell just by the footage of that guy's general demeanor, his age, and the age of his 'wife' that if it wasn't this kind of trouble, he would eventually end up in trouble for something else. A word to those who want to come to the Philippines: learn the culture, learn some of the language, be polite, patient and respectful always, and remember - you are not in your home country!

Cant stand living there anymore, more so in prison. Scheduled to have a vacation for 5 weeks but left after 3 weeks. Too hot and humid. Too chaotic
