Evgeny Petrovich Vishnyakov ( 1841-1916) is considered one of the brightest figures in the history of Russian photography and stands as a master of landscape photography...
Vishnyakov received his education at the Pavlov Cadet Corps, which he graduated in 1862; began his service in the Caucasian grenadier brigade..
As an amateur he began to engage in photography in 1867. He was enthralled by landscape photography and these were widely used by artists as study material.
Following his travels to the Caucasus in 1888 where he took more than 300 photographs, he wrote a book in 1893 entitled "The application of photography in travel" which became very popular with both professional and amateur photographers alike...
He participated in several photographic exhibitions, receiving a medal in 1888 "for the artistic reproduction of nature through photography". The following year he had an album published , "The Origins of the Volga " and in 1894 a similar edition of "Belovezhskaya Pushcha" was published.
Vishnyakov was a member of the Imperial Russian Geographical Society and an honorary member of the Kazan Photographic Society.
