Male Brain vs Female Brain #fight.

The differences between male and female brains have been a topic of scientific investigation for many years. One notable distinction is that the female brain generally exhibits increased blood flow to the frontal lobe and limbic system compared to the male brain. These differences can have implications for cognitive function, emotional regulation, and behavior.

Increased Blood Flow to the Frontal Lobe
Executive Function: The frontal lobe is critical for executive functions such as decision-making, problem-solving, planning, and impulse control. Enhanced blood flow in this area can lead to greater activity and efficiency in these cognitive processes. This might explain why women often excel in tasks that require multitasking, detailed planning, and organization.

Emotional Regulation: The frontal lobe also plays a significant role in regulating emotions. Increased blood flow can contribute to better control over emotional responses and a greater ability to process and express emotions. This could be a reason why women are often perceived as being more emotionally aware and communicative.

Enhanced Activity in the Limbic System
Emotional Processing: The limbic system, which includes structures such as the amygdala and hippocampus, is heavily involved in emotion and memory. Higher blood flow in this system can enhance emotional sensitivity and memory formation. Women tend to have a more robust memory for emotional experiences and may be more adept at recognizing and responding to the emotions of others.

Stress Response: The limbic system is also crucial for the stress response. Enhanced activity in this area can mean that women are more reactive to stressors but also more capable of managing stress through emotional coping mechanisms. This heightened sensitivity to emotional stimuli can be both a strength and a vulnerability, depending on the context.

Since these differences are not structural, but indicate usage of the organ in real time, doesn't that say a little bit more about how we are within our living world than how we are... innately?

Just like the field of epigenetics, I am fascinated about the evolution of organs. The way an organ is used within an organisms life will cause epigenetic changes, which of course, are transfered to the offspring.

If I learn as a female organism that I need to be exceptionally adept at communication amd cooperation in order to literally survive, my brain is going to reflect that reality. After generations of abuse and messaging regarding the female body, how does the female brain evolve to react?

I'm interested in this.

Women with adhd are also theorized to be under diagnosed due to how women are socialized… so was this consistent across the board? How many brains were studied, and from what backgrounds?

Now the debate is on nature vs nurture. We know things like CPTSD and childrearing can dramatically change the brain, so how does the effects of being raised as one or the other compare to genetic manifestation. I look forward to fuether studies on the topic. This is a subject I spend way to much time speculating on lol

It feels like a causation =/= correlation issue. Like if you look at a female athlete, that brain will probably have a higher blood flow to cerebellum, and if you take a male who is interested in philosophy, their frontal love will probably be supplied with a bigger blood flow. So, as people have mentioned, you can’t really say that men and women are different because their brains operate differently or social gender differences that people are cued into and mostly compliant with starting from a young age influence the way the brains function

I thought lack of adhd diagnoses in women was based on sexism and the stereotype of adhd little boys

"male and female brains work different" I could've told you that

Hot take: these differences are caused by the way girls and boys are raised and show that we as a society are failing to equip boys with the necessary tools for forming healthy relationships and emotional regulation

Now, it would be interesting to see how much of it is nature and how much is nurture.

I saw a video that mentioned how anxiety is likely equally likely in men and women but it shows more noticeable symptoms in women and therefore is more likely to be diagnosed.

Similar differences were noted in the brains of gay men (more analogous to the brains of straight women) and gay women (more analogous to the brains of straight men).

Except a ADHD and anxiety are at similar rates and are only reported at different rates because of gender bias in the medical field. A lot of ADHD symptoms in women are overlooked because theyre different to mens symptoms on average, and the medical field has a bias when it comes to studying men vs women.

And then on the flip side, depression and anxiety is vastly under reported in men because either the men are afraid of being seen as weak or they do talk about it and recieve no help and are turned away. Also, men are often convicted at higher rates and with harsher sentences then women even when accounting for the exact same crime.

Higher anxiety in females is to a great part due to the much higher rate of experience of violence and abuse.
Men are often surprised when females open up about their experiences of molestation, domestic violence and so on.
For example, I have experienced four attempted or completed kidnappings, the first when I was 7, when a creep tried to drag me into his car, the last when I was 24 when the equally creepy friend of a friend didn't drive me home, as promised, but to a very remote area out of town, where I physically had to fight him to keep him off of me.
Plus all the hundreds or thousands of incidents where someone followed, molested or threatened me.
Which man can say he's had similar experiences?

There are "higher rates" of ADHD in men because women are drastically underdiagnosed because of the lack of awareness to combination and innatentive type ADHD that women usually present as.

There’s no male or female brain structurally so that would imply socialization as the reason for any other differences. So we go back once more to bias and stereotypes. Are men inherently good at say, construction, or do AFAB people get steered away from the field by bias, thereby leading their brain areas to be used differently?

I was wondering why there were contradicting statements about male/female brains
Now it all makes sense

All of this makes … so much sense. Explains a lot of the men I’ve met in my life too 😂
