I have the previous version of this kit, very good. The Light did not work properly and stopped working altogether after a few minutes of trying to get it to work. I would prefer belt loops so you can attach it to yourself so it cannot be lost by falling out of a pocket or Rucksack. That plastic bag can double as a water collector in an emergency. I found it hard to get the stuff back in the bag because of the Tightness of that Plastic bag.

the gerber clutch is fucking dangerous. it snaps shut and once nearly cut my thumb tip off. it took my leatherman and a friend to get the little bugger off and it hurt like hell.

While it's certainly not the 'utlimate' in small survival kits, it's better than nothing at all..

If I owned one, I would take the contents out and put them in an Otterbox, and then maybe add some other things to it..

If this is the ultimate survival kit then were is the water container and water purification
tablets. I mean I can't bole water in those small plastic bags. Well anyway for the price they should have some kind of water container & tablets for you

@ GuGTheone the mini chain saw is not used with your fingers in the loops. You'll wear your fingers out. You put sticks through the loops

the multi-tool, in the kit is exactly the same as the bear grylls compact multi-tool which i have and it is bloody awsome

@teyacapan Duct tape isn't completely worthless in a survival situation, but its not a multi-tasker that can do many MEANINGFUL tasks.. Outside of maybe a makeshift bandage there's noting that it can do that para-cord cant. You can also use para cord to climb, set traps, tie shelter..etc You cant do any of those things with duct tape except make shelter, and you would need allot of it. So ya bottom line, it might be useful somewhere for something but its not taking up room in my pack.

@danusmcgator A fishing kit is worth much aswell, especially if you actually are unlucky enough to be in need of this. and i dont think everyone would like to run around with a freaking full size saw in their backpack. it would simply weight too much. and a knife -> it can be used for LOADS of things. try to think before posting.

Can't believe people are arguing on here about what items you'd need/want. there's no 1 thing that will save your life without some basic knowledge. Kits like this are about redundancy. Back-ups. that's it. You'd have your knife, your fire, your shelter, etc... it's when one of those fails that you'd need something from your back-up kit. With or without proper gear, the only thing that will save you is knowledge/will to survive. Better to practice starting fires, than argue about kit gear.
