Best Wakeboard Boats Under $50k - Riding the 2nd Gen 2008 Mastercraft Xstar - 4K

Kicking off this video is a wakeboard riding edit featuring Mike Rosenberg, myself (Rich Wheeler) and Edan Fletcher on Edan's 2008 40th Anniversary Mastercraft Xstar. Excellent morning of riding with basically the lake to ourselves.

I've ridden Edan's Xstar many times but after the day it had me thinking about what the best boats are under $50k. There are actually a number of boats under that price even when new boats are often $150k+. In addition current economic conditions have lowered boat prices a little but regardless you should be able to find the boats I am talking about under $50k.

Sold riding, new sub here. When that x star came out it was a game changer until the G hit. Great content!!! I'll add do this any boat that you're talking about if it makes a good wakeboard wake it will also make a great surf Wave with a surf device.

Great video, bro with great shots from all angles! In a lot of ways, the older generation boats out-perform the new generation because they were so much more reliable. Yes, the new boats have a lot of things that are more automated (no more filling ballast bags with manual pumps, surf systems to also help planing out when under load, etc) but they also breakdown a lot more because of the extra moving parts underwater & the computerization of the helm. Maintenance costs have certainly gone up with that as well. But in the end, the wakes are much better, but the question is, is it worth the significant increase in price/costs?

Your trampoline looks wild! I have a 2015 g23 and my buddies have a 18 moomba Max, 19 axis a22 and we all love the G23 wake the best.

Honestly, I would recommend a 2019 or 2020 heyday WT2. I would much rather have the newer boat with fewer potential issues. Pretty decent wake too. Sooo many people I know with these older boats have lots of reliability issues. I would also probably go with the Malibu or Axis over the mastercraft. I'm not a fan of super rampy wakes. But to each their own. But as you said, you were chasing gremlins in your older boat, and that has always been my anecdotal experience.
