Timber Framing is wood joinery on steroids. I will be using some power tools to rough out the joints but hand tools are necessary to fine tune those joints to the close tolerances that are desired for the finished frame. Today, we discuss the tools that are in my timber frame toolbox. I have listed below the tools and affiliate links to the new ones. Some of my tools are vintage ones that I have restored or plan too soon! Check below for the video times of each tool and also their affiliate links.

I'm sure there is some hand tools that I still need to acquire! Let me know in the comments if you have any recommendations. Today's video is also a little more informal. Let me know if you like the format! Thanks for leaving a comment!

Nice video, I did learn a bit, looking forward to the build videos. I liked your statement at the end that you were a bit disappointed on how many views the build video had, I recently started my channel and I have already learned that you can never predict how a video will be embraced.

Great project! Your 100% correct precision Starrett tools are very high quality! Being a machinist I own several Starrett tools. You can’t go wrong buying quality stuff! Unless you let friend’s borrow them and they come back broken 😖
Keep up the great work, good luck on your timber framing!

Make sure the sole is flat or square on your no.10 when you restore it, Paul Sellers will tell you that makes a big difference when you plane any board.

Man i would love to have that plane. Nice set of tools you got. Btw that is not an angle gauge its a sliding bevel. Also are you gonna do half dovetail notches for the cabin

Quick question: how do you spell the name of your dog? It sounds like my daughter’s name and I am curious if it’s spelled the same.
