i7-13700k VS i9-12900k

The 12900K only outperforms the 13700k in a few random benchmarks. Why would you pay more for it?

When I bought my 12900k it was $100 cheaper than the 13700k on Amazon.

The only reason I didn't go with the 13700k when I bought my upgrade parts this month, is because Microcenter had a special on a 12900k combo with a z790 mobo and included 32Gb ddr5-6000 ram, and compared to the 13700k combo with 32gb ram, I could get the 12900k combo and be able to get another stick of 32GB ddr5 for a total of 64gb of ram and with the z790 mobo, I can upgrade to any of the 13700k, 13900k, 14700k, or 14900k later this year and still be good. The 12900k is still a beast at gaming and performance, but I needed the extra ram and I didn't want to go over budget.

12900K is extremely easy to cool vs 13700K. I tried both and I kept 12900K. 13700K just jumps to 100 degrees under heavy load, impossible to cool even with new 360mm AIO. 12900K or non-K are top daily performer today, totally worth extra money.

I basically finished my build yesterday by installing a clean seat of win 11 with the 13700k and it’s more performant than with win 10. Smoothest performance I’ve seen yet. I agree, the i7 is the way to go.

This is only out of the box for the most part if you’re over locking the difference between the 2 is negligible so just buy whatever’s cheaper

I purchased a 12900k from amazon. they shipped me a 12900kf. my order page showed I had ordered and PAID for a 12900k, they said take a photo of the shipping label so I did and they said that matches their record were not replacing the part. It took me 3 months for amazon to refund me the price of the 12900k which i then purchased again from newegg and received the item that I paid for.

I do not game, I run gentoo linux. I could care less about frame rates, what I care about is being able to compile LLVM or rust in under an hour. 19 minutes for llvm.

Intel Core i9-12900K, ASUS Z790-V Prime AX DDR5, G.Skill Ripjaws S5 32GB Kit DDR5 6000.. i only got about 520 for all this there are selling all this for 399 at microcenter.. im upgradeing my old i5 8600k and msi g370 gameing plus would that be the best i could do with only haveing $520 for all 3 ??
