Here's one with a twist:-

I went to college with a kid that came over from South Africa whose Dad was both rich and the leader of some small tribe that made him a King technically or something. When he came over to study here, he noticed people sat in front of shops begging for money or sleeping rough. For some reason, this threw him for a loop and he asked me what these people were doing there - he could not comprehend homeless people and had not actually seen any until he had come here (something about the tribe took care of the downtrodden and all that). I explained and he was like "Ah... I see" and promptly hired a van, paid for drinks for the rest of the class if we helped him go round the local cash and carry to buy one of everything on the shelves and donate it to a local food kitchen and clothing bank.

We stay in touch to this day and the entire class are Friends of the Tribe which, as I am led to understand, means that if we're ever in serious trouble then everybody grabs spears and daggers to come to our aid.

My family has never been rich by any means but the world hit just as hard. The summer of 8th grade I worked a summer job and racked up quite a bit of money, I already had a bank account so I stored it all in there. By 9th grade I had nearly $1000. The school I was in had vending machines that sold snacks and sodas, all were overpriced. At first I didn't buy much, just a soda one in a while, but it kept progressing until I was buying 5 at least per day. I was also spending money on school lunch despite being sent (this was a private school with actually good lunches). Around this time I installed fallout shelter and was spending loads of money on it (yes, the mobile game). By the end of the year I had under $10, None of the money spent on anything even remotely useful. The worst part about all this is $300 of the 1000 was saved up money from birthdays. Some of the best lessons are the hardest learned.

The one with the doctor parent doesn’t seem like a spoiled rich kid, just someone who didn’t want to do the same thing his parents did

I wouldn’t necessarily call her spoiled. But I knew a girl a few years ago who was raised in a very sheltered upper middle class conservative Christian home. And we both went on a mission trip to Pittsburgh together. One day we served in a soup kitchen and she was absolutely scared to death of the homeless people. Many of them were former drug addicts some of them were convicted criminals and I think one man was even a convicted murderer let out. After like 22 years or something. All of them were very nice people grateful to be receiving help from the food kitchen. But she was terrified I was even playing chess with one man who spent 18 years in prison and I invited her to sit down with us and she was horrified she went into a full on anxiety and panic attack. It was in that moment I think she realized the world wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows. She didn’t treat them badly she was just freaked out by the whole situation I sincerely hope at some point she realizes that it’s those kinds of people that Jesus came for specifically. For the healthy do not need a physician.

I once met a guy named Aaron. These awful rich brats would bully him mercilessly. During the lockdown, me, Aaron, and our other friends who would defend him made a group chat so that we wouldn't die of boredom. Fast forward to online classes, Aaron would text to the group chat, "Mute your laptops.", we would do so and he would blast loud music to torture the rich kid's ears.

I remember being like 13 just playing games on my Xbox. I saw something in a micro transaction store for cosmetics, I had a dollar of two on my Xbox wallet. I wanted to see if I could afford some of it, turns out it was 1 click buy BS and my dad's credit card was connected to my Xbox. I tried to see the price, accidentally bought it. I freaked out and immediately texted my dad to let him know. At the time I still didn't see the price. My dad checked his purchases and my grand total was... 6 dollars. I said my sorry even though my dad was not mad whatsoever. Panic attack over 6 dollars.

As somebody from a decently wealthy family, I vow to never act like the brats in this video.

“We give you everything, why do you steal??”

Because you give them everything without making them earn it.

My cousin was living with me after dropping out of college because his parents were pissed and he was scared to go home. He was here for about 2 weeks and he asked me when the cleaning lady was coming. I laughed so hard about that. I still do 6 years later.

i saw a kid wear gucci to school on the first day and went in front of class to introduce himself. and in his introduction, he said that he was "the best student this class can hope for and you guys can just stop because i will overshadow you all". he then went for lunch and started bragging about, basically everything. he was a real douchebag and when he got touched by a girl accidentally when we were going for our 2nd period, he lost it. he started yelling and berating the girl and said "MY DADDY WILL HAVE YOU EXPELLED FROM THIS SCHOOL". when he finished, he turned around and hit the prefects of students head. he said he would have him fired until he was taken to the office and got suspended. on the first day of school. i didn't feel so much joy ever since that moment.

I've also met rich kids that I kind of felt bad for. They grow up, try to distance themselves a little bit from their parents and be independent, only to realize that their parents absolutely failed them and taught them nothing at all that they need to know to get by in the real world.

I know a couple of girls like that in my dorm hall- one of my best friends here genuinely didn't realize that some University scholarships cover boarding, as well as tuition, because I wouldn't have housing here otherwise, and wouldn't be able to afford it.

Her first couple of weeks here were rough because she didn't know how to do laundry, she didn't know how to make basic dormfood (she literally set off the fire alarm for our entire floor with a chicken cup of noodle), and she ended up in tears the first week because she didn't know that you had to pick up the bigger things before vacuuming or the vacuum would get clogged (she came running to my room crying because she vacuumed up a quarter and thought the noise that the vacuum was making meant it was about to blow up).

She's genuinely a nice, sympathetic, compassionate, giving person. She was just failed by her parents, who taught her absolutely nothing she needed to know, so when she stepped into the real world she just felt like she was failing repeatedly.

A friend ive known for quite a few years isn't exactly spoiled rich, but he definitely fits the stereotype of a trust fund baby. He's genuinely a good guy, but definitely out of touch a bit. Thankfully, in my friend group, we correct him pretty quickly (sometimes a bit more harshly than necessary), but honestly, what makes me worry about him isn't the occasional out-of-touch comment. It's my friendship with him that made me realize I was lucky about something I had taken for granted before: my parents encouraged and paid for therapy for me, for over half my life. This guy had wanted to get therapy for quite some time, and his dad wouldn't allow it, because "a man takes care of his own problems". That's messed him up more than any amount of privilege ever could.

Honestly, I think story 6 ended kind of wholesome. She may have bragged and got herself expelled for cheating but it was a nice wake up call from reality. Its nice that they've kept in contact all this time and im happy that she's doing really well for herself

That's definitely something I can say about my great-grandad. He was definitely loaded by the end of his life, if not out right rich throughout his life. He worked as some high level accountant type guy for this one company. However, he never outwardly seemed rich. He never bought anything new, except once buying an organ that he donated to his Church, and he bought a new Studebaker truck. Other than that, it's unclear as to whether his kids realized he was rich. I know my mom didn't until it was revealed he left a lot of his money to Hillsdale college in Michigan. His oldest (my grandad) usually did farmwork around the family's farm, or neighboring ones. His younger sons also wanted to make money, but weren't quite old enough to work at real jobs. He instead gave them chickens to raise, and they started selling eggs, and buying more chickens. The second oldest also sold other types of products once he was older. Eventually, my great-uncle wanted to build a plane, and saved up his own money to buy a kit. My great-grandad could've probably paid for it himself, but I think he did a better thing by never letting his kids see him as being rich, and instead they got to where they did through their own hardwork. I hope to have his restraint if I ever get rich.

as a person from a pretty well-off family im glad my parents taught me the importance of hard work, standing up for myself and other, and the joy of kindness. Yet everyday I worry I act like these kids and everyday I hope I prove myself wrong

One of my old friends would cry and scream when his parents wouldn’t buy him whatever he wanted (8 years old at this time). His parents obliged for some reason. However, he would always complain it’s not enough balloons or it’s not the right one. And so one day, he saw another kid with a blue balloon and started screaming that he wanted that balloon. His dad went over and offered his dad money for the balloon but the kid wouldn’t let the balloon go for any amount of money. But my old friend wouldn’t let it go and decided to run over and try to push the kid over and wrench the balloon out. When he couldn’t wrench it out, he started screaming ‘My balloon! Let go!’ And this other kid socked him in the nose, making him bleed from the nose. He started crying and this other boys dad started shouting at my friends dad to move away from them and they walked away. And my friends dad absolutely lit him up, smacking him across the ear and shouting at him for basically assaulting another kid, trying to steal their balloon. Remember hearing the story and agreeing my friend was a spoilt pr*ck but that his dad didn’t help, spoiling him until money couldn’t buy his kid what he wanted.
