The Japanese Shop Swapping GR Yaris Turbo Engines Into Classics

I’ve known Oto-san for 15 plus years, initially meeting him while he was working at C&Y Sports where he crafted his fabrication skills and got to do some crazy engine swaps. Soon after he opened up his own shop, Daddy Motor Works where he quickly put his name on the map crafting crazy project, all built around engine swaps. And that’s precisely what he specialises in, dropping all sort of engines into all sorts of cars.

After featuring his G16 swapped AE86 last year - a world first - I headed back as soon as I heard that he had dropped the GR Yaris 3-cylinder turbo into a Datsun 510 coupe, yet another world first and one that potentially may upset the purists out there… Toyota engine in a Datsun/Nissan! He continues to push the envelope with his meticulous work and unparalleled innovation and solutions, this time even crafting an electrical A/C set up for his demanding customer. We took the 510 out for a quick drive and took a closer look at all the details. Hope you enjoy this one!

Keep up to date!

I was wondering how long it would take for someone to start using the 3 cylinder from the GR Corolla. I thought it'd be a cool swap for an AE86 as well. It's definitely different, and I surely didn't expect to see it in a 510. Totally awesome 👌 👏

Japanese cars designed in late 60s, 70s and even 80s are just awesome, full of character. This Datsun 510 is a 55 years old design and looks relevant and ageless...

The guys in Japan can do anything they set their mind to, I’d love to have a EK9 with the steering changed to left hand drive with a K swap

First, this is a really cool build. Second, a Nissan Titan! I was always under the misapprehension that Nissan only sold that in North America. Neat!

Loved the solution for the AC. I have an '85 Volvo 245T Wagon that in it's history someone removed the AC bc "Race Car"(?). So I can appreciate the person wanting to put AC into a car

Seems like a really great engine that has a lot of viability for swaps.

Ryan Tuerks Corolla project is another example in progress at the moment I've been really enjoying following.
