I had a car that was worth anywhere from $0-20 depending on how much gas was in it...

I have a 12 yr old car and my co workers have told me things about it. Basically clowning me. When they asked why I'm driving that particular car I told them cause I just got done buying a $45k piece of land(cash not financed) and I'm building my 3600 sqft brand new house valued at $450, 000(120k financed/rest cash but will pay off in two yrs). I smile. 😊

Personally, I treat my old Honda civic as a status symbol of wealth...

Of course that wealth is invested in appreciating assets, not a depreciating car.

It took me a little while to figure this out. Not with my care, but with most of the electronics that I have. I have come to the realization that I don't need the latest and greatest thing that comes out. I now use whatever thing that I have until I don't need it anymore or until it doesn't work. I think now that I pay for my own things that I keep them around a whole lot longer and don't have the urge to buy a new one until I need it. Ever since starting my debt free journey I'm more focused on paying down debt than getting the next big thing that comes out and using things that I have

Thanks to you, when I pass someone in an $80K car, I feel bad for them. Thank you for the new appreciation I have for my 2004 Saturn - body looks brand new, 78, 000 miles, $26 to fill it up, no payments, insurance on it is $50 a month and the oil changes are $20. I can buy 4 tires for it for less than $150

As a driver I can confirm Dave's statements. We drivers don't care about WHAT you drive, we care about HOW you drive.

Awesome. I once went out with a woman who was too embarrassed to be seen in my car oh well. Good news is I still have the car 😉

I care about my car. I keep it clean, inside and out, and maintain it religiously. I use Mobil 1 synthetic oil and have used it since day one.

2016 Honda Accord LX, 30K miles and counting.
2001 Honda Civic HX, 210K miles.
1995 Honda Civic CX, (I forget).
1985 Honda CRX HF, 250K miles.

Guess you can tell I like Hondas. Great gas economy and they are reliable.

Amen! I don't drive an old car, but I do drive what I can afford with NO CAR PAYMENTS!

I live in an upper class area. I consistently get the nose in the air looks from people when I drive around town.. I have a 1997 Accord with 215K miles on it... I really don’t care what strangers think of my car though.

Haha! I've been there. I used to drive a bright yellow '79 Toyota Celica that had rust spots on it. My friends and I called it the "Yellow Banana" But it was a great car! Never broke down on me once and I drove it everywhere.

Lately when I ever I see a nice car all I can picture is $600+ a month that I could use to invest and go on an adventure with family. Instead of a car that spends most of its life time parked at work, home, or grocery store

I don’t worry about what others think about my car because I don’t have one. 😂😂
