The #Reset line needs to be pulled low (grounded) to force the SPI / i2c lines to tri-state during the external bus master processing.

Flash chip on this board is connected to the same power source as processor (SoC). So powering flash chip will power all board and programming will be impossible.
Yes, it's useful adapter, but all depends on board schematics

This clip is unreliable for SOIC8 chips. The chips are just too close to the PC boards and the clip contacts BARELY reach the IC legs, making for an uncertain connection at times. Anything less than 100% reliability 100% of the time rules out using this particular clip. 3M manufacturers a clip that does provide the required margins but it's approximately $40 USD. You get what you pay for in this case for sure but is an absolutely must for reliability. If one chooses this "iffy" clip, be sure and do a full read-back of the data's chip after flashing it, especially if doing page writes/reads. 🙁
