I'm convinced Chelsea just looked at the media talk and then get played based on this. These 8 year contracts seem clever to avoid FFP, but in reality, it's stupid because now you have a bunch of these players stuck who probably won't work out.

Chelsea transfer strategy is like a kid on football manager or fifa, looking at all the top potential players who can be world class in a few seasons.
Only issue is this is real life, freddy adu had 90 potential 15 years ago on fifa, boehly would have snapped him up for 50 million and he'd still be on their books at this rate.
They've not built a team at all, just built a very expensive youth academy of a first team that could all be superstars one day. But honestly if any of them wish to be considered anything better than they currently are they should never have gone to Chelsea. Just a guaranteed paycheck for 8 years with no risks.
