Ola : a little bit of a dirty tone.
Fluff : a CLEAN tone. Just as clean as possible.

When he hit the first two chords at 3:51 I instant thought hes playing Blood and Thunder. Thats a perfetct Mastodon Leviathan Tone in my opinion. Maybe you could do a Video about Mastodons Tone?

Marshall Fucking rules! Not just their amps but their pedals too! I own the original Marshall Guv'nor and Drive Master pedals and just acquired the vintage reissued versions of those 2 as well! The reissues sound the same as the old school, basically! With component tolerances and values drifting over time, they're minute and not that noticeable! Also, Carcass later went on to use the Drive Master towards the end of the Heartwork tour since their Guv'nors were stolen!(Both Bill and Carlo confirmed this!) The Drive Master is what replaced the Guv'nor when the 3 black pedals(Shred master, Blues breaker, Drivemaster) we're released in 1992! It's basically the Guv'nor circuit but doesn't include the effects loop option! Killer video, Ola!

Had my Shredmaster since '96 and it honestly made so many crappy amps sound useful 🥰

It's not a supertight chugging modern stuff but I would not dismiss it easily - it has a pretty good tone of its own. And it would be interesting to hear how it behaved plugged into another 6L6 based head.

Seems to me that JCM800 was a bit harsh on its own and SM just amplified that

I must be the only one on the planet who loves a fully scooped tone! 🤣 CRANK THAT CONTOUR KNOB!!

Have an old Marshall Jackhammer. My fav OD/Dist of all time. Never needed anything else. Metal solid casing plus so many tone variations. Could recommend to anyone.

I had a Drive Master in the 90s which I used with a Marshall 1959 100w SL.

I used the ShredMaster in front of a Marshall JMP1 MKII with no master volume + 4x12" Marshall 100W Vintage Greenback. Sound came right out of Hell. I remember a gig where Disharmonic Orchestra borrowed mine

Doing modern chugs was never on my mind - that's what the Dracarys, or Full Bore Metal, etc. are for. I bought the Drive Master to get an older overdriven/distortion sound to couple with other old school OD pedals. And I don't need a ka-ching expensive Marshall amp or the space it takes up to get the sound. :-) Thank you for your metal perspective on this, though, Ola! With enough gain everything's metal, right? 🙂

My favorite old school pedal was the art extreme distortion pedal, that shit was a beast also came with shitty fx I loved it.

Had both these pedals back in the day when originally released. Sold them be abt 4-5 yrs ago for way more than paid coz they were in great condition vintage pedals. Anyway, yea, they wrre great fun and served me well.

My uncle has the original Guv'nor and Jackhammer pedals, super cool to hear the reissue of these two! I hope you try out the reissue Guv'nor at some point, I wish they'd reissue the Jackhammer too! That was the best one imo.

Johnny Greenwood used the Shred Master on Pablo Honey like on the song creep (through a small fender amp) for his tone.

Shredmaster reminds me of the Jackhammer. I loved my Jackhammer, it was built like a tank and REALLY useful for driven bass tones.

At first glance I thought the Drive Master said "Devil Master" lol 👿🤘🔥

I had a chance to grab either of those about 20 days ago. Originally I went for the Guvnor but it was sold out and the store had these 2 and the Bluesbreaker.

I sampled the DM and SM side by side and instantly grabbed the SM. The DM is like a more compressed and brighter Guvnor, and to my ears sounds a bit generic. Great sounding, and very useful for hard rock and classic metal, but you can find that sort of tones in other MIAB pedals such as Boss Classic Stack. Guvnor from my memories is grittier and grainier.

SM is more unique, meaning not only I can dial some DM tones but also those you won't find in DM. SM is more related to the original Valvestate 8100 series which I wish I owned. You can do eeverything with it, from dirty blues to death metal. Yeah if you are after Chuck Schuldiner tones this is the ticket. In short, IT CHUGS!!

I had the shred master back in the day. By itself it kind of reminded me of the Kill em all tone but that may be in part because of the amp I used at the time.
I’m considering getting the governor as a boost though

You can hear the 90’s vibes before the pedals are even engaged

First few chords on the ShredMaster reminded of Celtic Frost’s sound (To Megatherion). I suspect it would be a good pedal for getting a lot of those first wave black metal sounds.
