Tyler, The Creator really teased his album a year before it dropped 👀

From his feature on Freddie Gibbs’ “Something To Rap About”, Tyler teased his upcoming album “Call Me If You Get Lost” and its theme of boats and travelling…

And whether it was on purpose, or a coincidence, the instrumental on “Something To Rap About” sounds pretty similar to the very end of the video, where he jumps off the boat, recalling back to how he said “this (the instrumental) sound like the moment I jump off it (the boat)”, on Freddie’s album!

Some of this might be a reach, but I thought it was a pretty cool easter egg! Shoutout to @8bitballerz whose video inspired me to look deeper into this and add my own spin to it 🫡

The boat is a metaphor for the inevitable cycle of going into what you think is your prime but than falling back into what you were before your prime and becoming depressed again and repeating it. Tyler was sad in the beggining because he had no boat and he would probably "jump off it" (give up or kill himself) he finally got a boat and became happy he is now having a boat and he finally accepts himself and becomes peaceful and happy but at the end the boat sinks and he lost the boat for what he thinks is forever and he feels like hes drowning.

Why is it that rap albums with boats as a central theme always come out hard asf - Yacht Rock 2, CMIYGL, the og lil boat tape. I can’t think of a bad rap album with a boat as a central theme. Why was it so hard to make good yacht rock when yacht rap is 3/3 rn
