For everyone else making the same mistake as me -- you don't press and hold the camera button while in the camera application - that just starts taking video. Press and hold the camera button while you're at the application launcher, with all your app icons on the screen. That launches into "visual intelligence" mode. This is entirely obvious after the fact, but unclear beforehand. You also should make sure you have Apple Intelligence enabled in settings.

Just so people are aware Apple Intelligence is only available on the 15 Pro/Pro Max or above, the non pro 15s and anything below won’t get it

i upgraded to 18.2 and have enabled chatgpt with siri - but when i long press on the camera control it just records a video.. is there a way to update the long press to do Visual Intelligence?

For Genmoji, I've noticed it basically only combines existing emoji icons to create the new one. There are some caveats to that, but it's mainly just "stacked" and "merged" existing emoji.

How does this effect having ChatGPT as a shortcut already? Like if I use Siri and say “ask ChatGPT….” Will use the new built in “extension” or will use the shortcut action?

The chatgpt features worked for a while. Now it says - downloading support for siri. Once downloaded will be able to call chatgpt.

The Action Button, Camera Button, Dynamic Island, MagSafe, FaceTime, iMessage, and the best features of iOS 18 are unmatched on Android and I’m saying this as the owner of the GS23 Ultra as my business phone
