A team of astronomers, led by Diana Kossakowski of the Max Planck Institute for Astronomy, has found an exoplanet that is a promising target for searching for signs of life. The planet, named Wolf 1069 b, orbits its star within the habitable zone, where temperatures are suitable for liquid water to exist on its surface. It also has an Earth-like mass, which suggests that it is a rocky planet and potentially has an atmosphere. Out of the over 5,000 exoplanets discovered, only a handful have both Earth-like mass and are located within the habitable zone. The discovery of Wolf 1069 b increases the number of such exoplanets that could potentially harbor life.
