Legendary drummer Buddy Rich interviews his good friend, "The Velvet Fog," Mel Torme on the set of "The Buddy Rich Show in 1982. This previously unseen clip is from three lost pilot episodes of "The Buddy Rich Show."

Drumming educational website, Drumchannel is raising money for the licensing fees to finally release these three previously unseen pilot tv shows on DVD. The three shows recorded in 1982 at the Statler Hotel in NYC also feature interviews, outtakes and performances from The Buddy Rich band along with jazz and big band greats Ray Charles, Lionel Hampton, Woody Herman, Stan Getz and Gerry Mulligan. Did I miss the part where Buddy tells Mel about Artie Shaw and Mexico. I take it that Artie was a no show at one of his concerts, the band found out later the he had gone to Mexico, and I think they had to fold that band for a while.

Fantastic. any interview of Buddy Rich and above all anything the man said or did is fantastic. Only one drummer that I really wanted to see and hear and that was Buddy Rich. case closed

Surface music. That's all we have now. No bands. No instrumentalist. No real artist. Buddy must be turning over in his grave. So happy he isn't here to see this shit-show. R.I.P. giant! You and your like are sorely missed.
