"Online violence" = you say anything we don't like.

My family are immigrants and we find it insulting that we had to spend years, money, and sit through language exams just to be able to get citizenship, yet people are allowed to live illegally, and get funded when we had no help despite doing everything legally. I dont understand any of this

What the F is online violence? Is that when someone chokes you with their internet cable? There's no such thing. Violence is a physical act, not an idea floating out in space.

George Orwell’s homeland has become…Orwellian. Literally now, both ways.

As a British, I’m ashamed for my country. Our PM is a joke.

They’re just arresting people. They’re not actually preventing violence.

We’re not living in 2024. We’re living in 1984. We need Winston Smith

We live in a dystopian society. The only thing that is surprising is that people don't realize it is and has been dystopian.

British viewer here. I have stopped sharing articles on social media about anything to do with the riots, immigration or anything else in the news to be honest. The fact that you can literally be arrested for sharing an article which may have information that was THOUGHT to be true at the time but turned out to be a mistake is scary. We aren't allowed to be concerned about the border anymore as British citizens. We have only just elected this new government and I already feel like the government has turned its back on us.

Not too long ago, "liberals" were anti-authoritarian, skeptical of state coercion, especially incarceration, and committed to free expression. I've never voted Republican, but, at this point, I'm more fearful of "liberal" judges than Republican judicial appointees, and I'm pro-choice.

The state should have almost no legal authority to limit expression – one of the most, if not THE most, quintessentially human activities.

It's becoming frightening over here. We're called racist etc just for speaking about unlimited immigration, and there are still people that believe the lies and support the Labour Party!

Arresting people for sharing misinformation is a dangerous slippery slope. Wouldn't they have to throw the entire BBC staff in jail? 😅

Nice to know that my younger self’s dark comedy would get me in jail in the UK. Thank God I’m in America 😅

so, why did britain bother fighting the germans again? because this is what they would have gotten if they had just surrendered.

Thank you for covering this. It's an absolute mess over here.

There's one very big problem in the UK. Those same standards for speech and rioting are only being used against UK citizens.
I don't think violence is the answer. But I also don't think that the very obvious 2-tier justice system is going to help the situation.

The Noble Savage trope is hilarious. They talk about Native Americans like they were peaceful hippies. Lool

As someone who is both Full blooded Irish and now an American. I think that the censorship that is going on in the UK is sick. Thought control is not the way to go. You try silencing a people and they will leave (America is from silenced people from the UK) or they will rise up. I am thankful for America. I am thankful for the right to free speech everyday! I just hope it is not to late for the UK.
