The Elev8 is a Portable Mobility Hoist that is designed for those users that have difficulty when lifting their Mobility Scooter into the car boot.

If I could lift my scooter onto that platform, I could just as easily lift it straight into my car. Surely a better design would be to have the top as a thin platform with a pair of small ramps.
Wheel scooter up the ramps and on to device. Lift small ramps to prevent roll off. (Lift n slot down to fix). Raise to just above car boot level, deploy ramps (lift out of slots, lower to operating position) into car, lower device to boot level, push scooter into car.

Better idea, have the top be a sliding platform using something like heavy duty drawer runners. Add the wheels to the platform rather than the base. Lift scooter, slide platform into boot, scissor lift is still outside car this point but attached to platform via drawer runners. Press the up button, scissor lift should now close upwards to meet the top where the drawer runners are fixed. Once fully up, simply decide the scissor portion in under the scooter
