Nice job Scott. Always soo much to discover from CP. The distinction between different goal note approaches is spot on. Keep on keeping on bro.

Hey Scott g'day to you from Bath, UK. I am a dedicated advocate of jazz and the great jazz continuim. I think you really unpack and bring to life the essential elements in your videos. I am a jazz guitar player who will be learning forever and not knowing enough options...however I totally appreciate the nuggets I have gleaned from your channel. You have fantastic tone and technique BTW . Peace

Great explanation, Scott - I love this lick! I think an analysis of some of Dexter Gordon's solo on Blue Bossa would be cool.

Thanks for the video Scott!! I'm also huge fan of Sonny Stitt if you're able to pick a lick from his huge catalogue! So many to choose from with Sonny Stitt, hard part is picking which one! Lol

Really nice break down of this lick! And pointing out the voice leading is not just the transition between bars, but also the goal notes. I played (i.e. improvised) a D (alto) blues for a sax teacher and he pointed out to me that it sounds better to switch between F# & F natural in each bar, like in this example. And the F natural in bar 4 gives some variety and, as you point out, a bluesy sound. I have been listening to Sonny Criss lately and if you do a similar tutorial on something from him it would be nice.

This is amazing and so helpful! I would love to hear a breakdown of Mike Phillips as well as Andrey Chmut — they have similar sounds/styles and and would love to hear your thoughts and some breakdowns!

Great job.. I agree about any Dexter ballad, or, how about Scott Hamilton's Autumn Leaves from East of the Sun?
