Captain Matt do you have a video showing how to start the mega worm bin? How much compost do you start with at one end? Thanks, these are so helpful, I took the worm course and I'm on my way to worm farming here in California

I am wondering if you made 2 waves if you would end up with more castings because the worms would get twice the exposure to atleast half of the bedding and food?first wave half full wedge. Second wave fill to top wedge

I’d use a eight or four tine fork to remove the worms
Love the channel and great video

Captain Matt! Wonderful videos! I had an idea. Your big bins could have trolley on one side and carriage to hold mortar bins. You are in great shape man handling heavy bins like that 😎👍

Capt Matt I've been watching you for some time now and I've got to the point where time allows me to start a farm.... This video is a great example of a question I have... As the worms move along with the food, Do Microbs stay alive in the material left behind fo perhaps months before the castings are harvested ?...

Can you make a video how to store worm casting at home, how long we can store etc? Thanks.

Perhaps if you set multiple smaller food traps on the end of the bin you will get more worms to concentrate. That's what we did for a friend that needed to divide a wedge system to populate a new wedge.

Her system is like yours with 3 sides...but she has doors on hinges one long side that she can open/remove to begin drying out castings & force the worms to move to a more moist area. By denying moisture & food, they relocate faster.

Part of her problem was building a 2 sided wedge system long enough to quit feeding on one end completely so the worms actually moved.

Hello Cpt. Matt!!
Would you mind sharing how you manage wintertime temperatures in the bulk bins when they sit on the ground? Kind Greetings

Hey Matt thanks for the video. I have a question about this setup. So, the way that i have seen you feed in other videos is by feeding on top of the plateau and then pushing it along. My question is, is the stuff at the bottom of the pile or bottom of the slope still rich in worm castings or is it mostly just compost that fell down? Also could you feed far down on the slope and have worms on that whole surface even near the bottom? Thanks Matt I am currently building up my worm population from one breeder tray and coming uo with designs and applications for the worm bins. Thanks for your inspiration

Hi cpt Matt.

Thanks for your videos. Always very informative. I like your mega bins. What type of worms do you use for those mega bins? Also don't you have an ant problem if the bins are on the ground?

I find worms are going to be down deep in the material no matter what I do to try to bring them to the top! I guess they didn't get the memo…

I’m wondering if some of the worms that stayed away from the food did so because there wasn’t an opening for them to get to the food due to so many being in the system. I’ve seen this happen when migrating worms in my outdoor trench system and just wondered if it’s because of the aforementioned theory.
Just a thought. Maybe I’m just thinking about worms too much…oh wait, that’s not possible! 😂
Thanks Matt! Always love to watch your videos when I’m in one spot for any length of time. I need to catch up!

Hello Captain Matt! I run a small worm farm here in Texas and i have quite a population and tons of casting but cant sell anything if my life depended on it, i have a ebay account and have my reds for 45 a lb and still cant sell them. Everyone tries to lowball me and now that they do this it makes me want to raise my price's because i do everything by hand. I don't have fancy equipment and all that, just my hands and meme and other worm farmers sell their stock of pure reds for 70 bucks a lb. What am i doing wrong???
