The Wacom Cintiq 24HD boosts productivity with an HD display, sensitive drawing technology, and a well thought-out design.

Thomas Roussel demonstrates the Cintiq 24HD for CADplace at Imagina in Monaco. In the demo, he clearly justifies his conclusion that the Wacom Cintiq 24HD is a "no-brainer".

your workstation is connected to the tablet. The tablet supports display port, DVI, etc. The workstation is typically under the table, the keyboard can be just in front of or just behind the tablet itself. The tablet then works like an old-style drawing board - just that it is running on a workstation. This is really a great setup.
If you already have a monitor, and most people do, then you can easily run the system as a 2 display setup with one of the displays being your tablet. An added bonus.

It is connected to the computer. In this demo there was a Mac Pro under the table.
If you already have a monitor, you can configure your system with this tablet as a dual-display system

Yes, z-brush ... I am not soooo familiar with z-brush, but when Thomas Roussel works with it, the product looks just great. He has a very very nice milled wooden bust of the model that he is "playing" with in the demonstration - looked fantastic!

practice, practice, practice... B) Thomas is an expert at Z-Brush and also really knows how to use the Wacom tablets. So you have a a person with talent using excellent enabling technology and then you have great results.

It is not a PC at all. It is a tablet + display. You can attach it to anything.

In this video, Thomas was using a Mac Pro. You can attach it to a Windows workstation. You can use any 2D/3D design, paint, sculpting, photo, video software you want. Dassault Systemes Natural Sketch to photoshop to z-brush to mudpox to alias studio, etc etc,

works in multi-display, too.

If you need to draw or sculpt on a computer, then this is a great device. If not, it is a very expensive monitor. :)

Hi - he is using a 3D sculpting program called Z-Brush from Pixologic. From what little I have seen of the program, it looks (1) easy to use, (2) powerful, and (3) capable...

Of course it helps to be an expert on the product like Thomas is.

Thx for the comment. On one hand, the value proposition of any product depends on the needs of the individual. This might not be worth it to you, but for many people, at 2300€, it's going to pay for itself really fast. As for old tech, well, not sure what you mean, the company keeps moving and released the "touch" version a while ago. And the tech specs of the 24HD tablet are pretty darn good.

I agree completely. When sculpting, sketching, or painting, this tool makes a big difference.

I'm using ZBrush, a 3D Sculpting and painting software, the leader in the VFX and Game industry for high resolutions models, but also creating concepts and more.

yes, on some projects which requires a lot of accuracy, it's close to 20-25% which is huge !!

Hi Jesus, the benefit with the Cintiq is to work directly on the "paper". You can also buy a professional Wacom Intros tablet for a couple hundred dollars and attach it to a six-display Firepro Eyefinity system. :)

And you're right, most people work for their money, and like I said below, the productivity increase can be high. The tablet can pay for itself fast depending on your work.

Not everyone needs this tablet, bot for the people who do - it is a great product.

The 24HD in this video was pre-touch. The 24HD touch does have a touch-toggle on/off. But that is not exactly your question!! I have not had my hands on a 24HD Touch to check your specific question about a palm reject - it would seem like a requirement to me, but let's see if we get a separate confirmation here.

Any statement that requires a pre-made apology should probably be kept to yourself.

In looking at the Cintiq live, I really really really cannot notice a lag when drawing. I looked again at the time 6:45 and it still seems really smooth to me.

The specs for the 24HD are on the links above - You'll see that it is a very sensitive product. I would suspect that any perceived lag would most likely come from other parts of the system hardware or software. Cheers!

The Cintiq, rather obviously, combines the display and the tablet. This alone is more productive. In addition, all the (configurable) controls that you need are right on the sides of the 24HD. Literally at your finger tips. This combination creates a fully integrated digital drawing board with exceptional accuracy and sensitivity.

That is what makes you more productive.

ROI is based on the cost delta to an Intuos+display. Easy choice. One config or the other - up to you!

thanks for the feedback, but obviously I don't agree with your point. While the demo is about 8 minutes in total, Thomas walks through the characteristics, qualities, features and benefits of the product. As someone who uses the product, he also talks about how it makes him more productive. He admits that his 10% estimate on productivity increases is a very LOW estimate.

All said, it is the longest demo I have ever shot, but I do think that Thomas had a lot of good information.

Well, Thomas is an expert, and he makes it LOOK easy. ;)

Thomas makes a good point in the video - let's say that you get a 10% productivity boost. That is one day of work every two weeks. How many days of work do you need to pay for the tablet?

And personally, I think *only* 10% more productive is a low estimate.
