PDF Import with AutoCAD 2017

AutoCAD 2017 now includes the ability to import the geometry contained with PDFs

actually some of the fonts are recognized and converted by autocad using import pdf command.

what I think happened is that you used shx fonts which is basically made out of line. cad recognized them as lines which in turn converted them in to lines.

I can't select any of the drawings from my export. Only the title block frame can be selected
