For max effeciency in dps during Xiao's elemental burst, remember to use normal attacks or normal followed by charged after a plunge.
Follow up with a normal attack after a plunge for multiple enemies and normal followed by a charged attack before the next jump for single targets.

So basically I was doing everything right. So the problem lies with my artifacts and weapon, got it

I run Jean with Xiao. She's good at giving Xiao energy particles, and she also gains energy when Xiao does his EB and EM. Most of the time, her EB will be up once Xiao's is done and I'm able to instantly heal the hp that was drained.

some tips from me:
-Favonius lance removes 98% of Xiao's problem
-since the hp drain gets lower the lower ur hp gets, its usually not worth to fully heal Xiao.
-using 2 set viridescent and 2 set bollide with Zhongli as the shielder, you pretty much dont need a healer and u wont die from using your burst at low HP
