Thank you for covering this, Zeke. Truth: nothing is permanent.

I lived in Chico for 3 years while I went to school. I absolutely love Chico and this is the saddest thing I have seen since the Paradise/Magalia fire years back. This is so sad.

Thank you Zeke. I stayed home today so I wouldn't see it in person. What a historic loss for Chico.

Thank you for your time and efforts Zeke.. It's a crying shame that nobody 'on the job' feels comfortable to even give you the time of day. What a pathetic society we have become. no words.

My mother took art classes in the mansion when she was a student at chico state. 1949-50. At one point it was a dorm. The mansion will be sadly missed. So many memories there. 😢

Thank you for speaking of the people who were there & of their treatment.

A fitting Memorial and Museum needs to be created on this site to recognize the Bidwell Family, the Pioneers, and the Tribal Members who lived in this area and gave Chico such a strong heritage and community spirit, that lives on today into the future. Chico Stand Strong and United...

Beautiful old house. Sad. Thanks for the video. In a previous life, I lived in the tiny town of Fort Bidwell, located in the far NE corner of California.

During the park fire, Ishi’s hideout was burned down as well. I’m glad you mentioned the genocide involved.

A young man, local chico resident was allowed to perform on the special piano in the mansion. He said it was a real privilege. Saw him entertaining during Christmas for visitors. His name, Sean Mooney. Member of the Mooney Farms family.

So very saddened by the loss of this iconic home. I graduated from Chico State and toured the Mansion several times. Bidwell Mansion was the heart and soul of the Chico community. Hopefully, the City of Chico will come together and restore/rebuild the Mansion to it's original state. Unfortunately, it will never be the same, and all of the Bidwell's precious treasures are lost forever. Stay strong, Chico!!!

I live in Chico, this is a catastrophe, with us it ranks up with Notre Dame burning, if someone did this I hope they catch them.

My very dearest friend, Marian Brown, was a Bidwell descendent. Marian used to treat me and my children every Christmas to the bell ringers who performed at the mansion. It was the most wonderful Victorian experience.
