How to identify ground ivy (aka creeping charlie). This pervasive ground cover plant is in the mint family, and besides being nutritious, it also has medicinal properties (for more info see the links below).

Ground ivy (Glechoma hederacea) has also been used throughout history for making beer (until hops became popular).

Thank you! I have loads of this plant around our property and I've always thought it smelled appetizing, sort of zesty. I'm going to try your dressing recipe for sure!

I have this all around me too.. so nice to know what it's called and even nicer to know it's a wild edible! I wish they taught this stuff in schools! Is there a best time of year to harvest the leaves for that salad dressing?

The other kind of Ivy growing on tree trunks also does the same thing, it’s not a bad weed.

Thank you. I have a question for you. Is there a limit to the amount you can consume of this plant( Ground Ivy )?

I have this growing over another plant in my yard. Should I remove it?
