Show Notes:
In Terminal:
============================
sudo apt-cache showpkg (packagename)

sudo apt-get install (packagename+version)

sudo apt-mark hold (pkg name)

sudo apt-mark unhold (pkg name)

package can still be removed

In Synaptic:
======================

Search for pkg

highlight it

"Force Version"

Select to install

after install
use Package Lock-version option
to hold the package from upgrades

I know this is an older video, but just in case you still check your comments I have a question: where you scroll up and you find the previous version (right above "dependencies")... is that showing the most recent previous version available from the public cache, or the previous version that was installed on this device?

Please help me.... I just reinstalled Ubuntu 14.04 and made sure to uncheck upgrade firefox and also did the same in the firefox well it went ahead and forced 58 on me. I have tried everything on the web for at least 12 hours and i have a broken firefox. Original was 47 but i uninstalled that and have tried 54, 56 etc... I have no launch icon either. How can I get a better version to show up in synaptic? My choice in synaptic is 28 or 58. I refuse 57 or 58.
