Decretum - Yuki Kajiura (Madoka Magica OST) // Piano Cover

The Madoka soundtrack has been in my top 3 favorite soundtracks for years now, I don't think any other soundtrack has held that spot for this long - the orchestral score is simply amazing, I never get tired of it. The themes, the atmosphere, it's all perfect *_*

I'm pretty surprised that there aren't more piano covers of the OST out there, I've found that there's plenty of pieces and themes that haven't been covered at all :o

So this is my take on Sayaka's Theme, a.k.a. Decretum, from Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica, aka Puella Magi Madoka Magica aka PMMM.

Too many covers simply replicate the song, but you did that and then gave it a bit of character that is your own, something I've only seen Theishter and Animenz do from time to time

From my experience browsing fan covers on musescore, some fan arr's are over simplified and sound crap, whilst others require 7 hands and 2 brains (very little in between). This however is beautiful, sight read first try (like with mistakes and at like 60% speed) and got to at least get a feel of playing the piece. But I also know, especially after listening to this performance, how far this arrangement can go, especially with dynamics and voicing. Truely a work of art to play and experience for yourself. I find this small part of "Sis puella magica" inside "Decretum" (2:20) very interesting yet beautiful.


But the most beautiful thing in this video is not music itself, but the way it is played. I can see pure mastery in the way your fingers touch piano and the way you move your whole body, I can see your gentle smile behind the hair and emotions you put in this music. That is the best cover I have ever heard.
