When I was a kid Qbert inspired me to get into djing I'm 31 and still involved in music and "the industry". I used to watch this VHS of him tripping on acid at his moms house going back and forth from room to room with wall to wall records. He had turntables set up in every room. the video was 3 or 4 hours of him just scratching and acting a fool. It inspired me to scratch for hours everyday and taught me that you have to put in hours a day to get good at anything. That VHS was from 1997 and he hasn't aged a day

The king of a lost art. There will never be another like him.

Scratching is actually a lot harder than people think and you always have to use ur imagination to entertain! Qbert is a legend he's being going for decades and he still smashes it..my hat goes off to the guy!!!

One of the masters of the turntablism element of hip hop. You are watching a master at work...

Every time I watch Q it makes me hype/happy and depressed at the same time! :)

He is still on an unreachable level, lightyears away.

Hands down Q-Bert cuts better than any turntablist today or in the past. Innovative, creative, not from this planet scratching. Fucking sick.

The level of finesse is astounding. Done at an incredible technical level and yet still everything he does is pervaded by this great sense of FUN which I find missing from a lot of other performers.

Saw QBert at The End club in London in 98. The DJ booth is at ground level and in the middle of the dancefloor. QBert wasn't as well known in the UK and it was a Thursday night so the club had like 50 or so people in it by the time he came on. He gave us a 1 hour masterclass. I've never been so blown away by his mastery and also how much fun he was having. He even did a handstand and fucking scratched with his fucking toes. It was totally insane. It was such an intimate setting as we could all see exactly what he was doing being only a few feet away from him. He engaged with us all too. So bloody chilled out while doing his thing. What an artist!

Grandmaster Caz is in the back shaking his head at how brilliant this performance is at 5:38. NOBODY can touch a flare better than this guy

I remember watching grainy ass VHS tapes of the battles...I have like 3 actual MIX TAPES of Q Berts at my house.  After all these years he is still the greatest at scratching, beat juggling and creating music out of "noise."  Props for sure...

Peace - DMC USA does not tolerate trolls on our youtube channel. Everyone has a right to their own opinion - but why spend your valuable time, trolling battle videos, writing negative things? If you don't like a set, keep it moving. Most trolls have never battled in their lives but feel that they can critique world and national battle champions.

He is an old school DJ and a damn good one at that, people just forget where all these new amazing turntablists got their roots. DJ QBert is one of their inspirations as well as Mix Master Mike, don't forget it.

QBert is the battle scratch God. Even when he's just F'n around, he's on another level. His style is truly unique.

The early 80's was the best time ever, growing up in Philadelphia... with the block parties in the school yards, i was a rapper back than, it was like mini concerts. The dj cutting, than the rappers rapping, than the poppers popping.
