Millions more to go into Tier 4 COVID-19 lockdown

More swathes of the South, East and southeast of England are to go into Tier 4 coronavirus restrictions.

Health Secretary Matt Hancock said the move was needed to stem the spread of coronavirus and the new variant of the infection.

London and many parts of the South East are already in Tier 4, which means they cannot leave the area or mix indoors with other households.

And Mr Hancock said two cases of a new, 'more transmissible' COVID-19 variant linked to South Africa have also been identified in the UK.

This varient was first identified in Brazil. It has spread to the UK from France, it is this varient that Macron has. Its present in Italy, Spain, Portugal, Germany, in the Far East. The UK is doing work on the G-nome sequencing of the virus, hence they're identifying the varient. They're being shot at because they're being honest about the spread.

France closing their border has nothing to do with the spread of the varient. They're playing politics around the Brexit negotiations and specifically about fisheries. Well tough on them, they won't have British seafood this Christmas.
