I keep saving these after-shaft feathers and had no idea how to utilize them. Thanks so much for the idea!

After watching this one I watched your Sparrow video and Jack's Sparrow video. One tip he had was breaking off the fine end of the aftershaft feather then wetting and twisting the end before using your hackle pliers. Those aftershaft feathers were always the hardest part of tying a Sparrow.

After the grasshoppers are gone, this should be a great exploratory fly. That will happen....yeup, in late September, early October. Once again, thank you for all the great posts; seasonal and otherwise.

Gotta love the October caddis. Thanks Matt.

Keep in mind that the Aftershaft feather is a little delicate. These feathers will break easily, like a small partridge feather. They do provide great movement in the water. Thanks Matt for sharing.

One of my favorite patterns to fish but have the hardest time tying. This video may help. Thanks for sharing!!

Nice tie. It’s interesting to me how the color of flies follow the color of the leaves. There are attractor patterns that don’t abide by the rule, but it seems traditional patterns work in concert with the foliage.

I almost looks like marabou in the front of the fly but more buggy. Neat fly Matt. Keep the good stuff coming.

Great fly and video. That's a pretty big wet fly. A few years back, Tim Flagler had a video tying this fly on a size 12 hook which probably was a better size for NJ waters; which I also fished when I lived up there. Like the pattern and using after shaft material ( which is pretty delicate). Thanks for another simple pattern and a great video.
