A discussion after a hard night and I guess it made Cochran think.

"Filled with naked women."

I can only imagine the Vulcans reactions to learning about the true man "So you like money, whiskey and women? We need to introduce you to the Andorians. You are gonna get along great"

I just love the fact that of all the Enterprise crew, Ricker is the only one that isn’t surprised to see that Cochran is just a self serving prick who’s entire construction of the warp ship is for purely selfish purposes.

I like how Cochrane realized right after criticizing the quote that he was probably the one who would eventually say it.

Everyone has their own idea of who the most underrated actors are, but I think we can all agree that James Cromwell doesn't get nearly enough credit for his work through the years

after listening to mr. Cochrane's motivation, he really is my hero.

First Contact contains, in my opinion, some of the best Star Trek ever. This scene is one. But really, when his little nuclear powered warp ship finally breaks the speed of scream was priceless. I bet the first person to throw nitrous oxide to an engine and didnt blow up might have screamed the same way.

"I've heard enough about the great Zefram Cochrane."

Obviously this scene applies to a lot of figures in History but I think the writers were referring to Roddenberry above all others. Most fans think he's great but when you look into his personal life it gets a bit complicated;and since the people in charge of Trek at this time worked with him before he died they probably knew more about him and his flaws then audiences then or now. However regardless of who he was or what his intentions were he clearly made something revolutionary and tried especially later on to use it to make the world/universe a better place.

That quote is now officially a bootstrap paradox 😂

we forget that zefram cochrane is supposed to be just 33 years old here.
look at all the famous historical figures when they were young compared to when they became famous.. always 2 different people.
if I were to take albert einstein young say circa 1900 and have him meet himself say 1930... he wouldn't recognize himself. lol

Remember when Star Trek used to tell stories like this and THIS was considered the dumbed down version of the series?! God we were spoiled rotten by these titans of Sci Fi.

Now all we get is millennial writing where nothing is taken seriously except crying scenes, ever chick is a hyper badass, every white man is a moron, violence is always the solution and the federation is now just a corrupt bureaucracy that has absolutely no respect for those that came before them. Old trek had admirals that became corrupt because they burned out. New trek the entire federation is that way. Gene a Roddenberry is spinning so hard in his grave he could generate a gravitational pull.

We used to look above what we are now and dream of the day when the whole human race would become so enlightened that the problems of today would be inconceivable to the people of the future. We used to look to the future and think that we would become more intellectually capable and unite to defeat poverty, disease, war and bigotry. We reached for the stars with hopeful ideas and visions of becoming more as a species. Somewhere along the way we lost that and now our only vision is what we see ten feet in front of us on a downward slope.

Definitely not the Cochrane people in the future know. Before he made his warp flight, he was a drunk.

Cochrane will get very well with the Ferengi, money and naked women.
