I swear, I DO manage to finish building this beast at some point... Alrighty, the cable confusion continues unabated in this one, along with some hard drive confusion and power supply frustration. Wheee!

@Zaranyzerak you can also, if it's possible, remove matal "pins" from the front panel buttons/leds connector using a small flat screwdriver or a thick needle, and reconfigure them in this connector

@Zaranyzerak Yeah, most likely. I've never cleaned the dust out of my heatsink until now, never knew it could get so dusty!! Just always cleaned the fan.

some motherboards come with an adapter with pins sticking out but anyways the wires need to be separated and put into separate 2 pin connectors fyi not bashing great videos man

I don't understand why everyone is so worked up. Zaranyzerak videos are entertaining and great to watch. I know people may be upset because he may not be able to build a computer as good as others, but who cares? Keep up the great work Z man.

After watching part 4 I was bored and not tired. So.... I went inside my pc and cleaned out the dustbunnies from everywhere. Even the heatsink (so bad) and the power supply. Great thing to do at 2am.

You have to be REEAAALLYY careful when handling a power supply, one of our high school friends was supposedly a computer guy. He came over to our house and was looking at my computer, he didn't ground himself and he fried our PS just by touching it. I've been lucky (or just smart) to have never fried a computer part due to static.

Thank you for not insulting the viewers intelligence by putting subtitles on for way too long like some people do. WE'RE NOT STUPID, WE CAN READ RATHER QUICKLY!

@Zaranyzerak Indeed I did. Although if I didn't I still have my netbook, ipod, PS3, and blackberry that I could do the same if anything happened. SO much dust inside the heatsink, was nuts. The fan got really clogged up again too.

FYI - The reason you never get any screws with your components is case they usually come a new PC case.
For your sound to work proper you'll need to find an audio driver on the Web ''RealtecAC97'' Just Google or Yahoo it and it's a FREE download,
Did I mention it's FREE. Or check your ASUS driver disk for a temporary driver.
Your ASUS has parts bag with jumper adapters in it.

This is why I don't really like to build computers. I'm fine with putting everything in the case, but then when the wires start to get all jumbled up and room gets tight, I get frustrated as hell. It annoys me to no end when there's a huge mess of wires in my computer and no room to frickin PLUG ANYTHING IN!!

Yeah, you have to hate cases from HP, Dell, Compaq and the like. They use proprietary front panel connections to speed up the assembly process by half a second. At least HP (And probably Compaq because they're the same) allow you to put the motherboard into other cases. Crap like Dell use extra proprietary so you can't hook in normal headders.

Thank you for this series. It's very informative and details shown clearly.
I have a sort of unrelated question. Don't women watch these videos? I wonder only because when I see comments they seem to be from men. I enjoy building, fixing, and even just looking at computers insides I thought other women probably do too. I'm on the edge of my seat to know if the front audio panel is fixed yet. I had the same issue on the first one I rebuilt.

*worried at 3:30* YOU PUT ALL THAT STUFF IN THE CASE...AND NOW YOU CAN'T EVEN TURN THE DAMN THING ON?!

The IDE cables that came with your Mobo should have TWO IDE out ports and ONE IDE in port on them., If not you can always go to your local PC store and buy one or get it from NewEgg.com 4 a couple of bucks.

@Zaranyzerak If only there was a way to stop the videos in time some how so you can read them....

The joy of non standard connectors :)
Oh well better then a Dell if you didn't buy one with an extra videocard? Well then you could find out that Dell had removed the WHOLE AGP PORT.

... Yes...

Dear god we built a friends computer a few weeks ago - took us 4 hours of wiring and re-wiring of problems. Turns out we'd knocked a jumper off at the start and retardedly put it on in the wrong place again. What sucks even more is it turns out we'd been sent a dud part and it wouldn't detect graphics cards.

Side note, im really digging the backing track to these (And i'm not usually into 'electronic' music.) Is it your album? I may well have to grab it! :)
