Nelson Lakes National Park has several stunning alpine tramping (hiking) adventures to choose from. The ‘Waiau Pass’ is a rewarding alpine crossing that lays deep within the park. It requires a lot of time, commitment and skill to complete. No matter where you start, access to the base of Waiau Pass is no easy feat. Hiked this one in february 1986. From Blue Lake Hut to Caroline Bivy took me 8 1/2 hours of hard tramping, beautifull weather though. Wish I could still do tramps like this, but I'm 70 now and stuck in Covid-Holland. This vid brings back nice memories, thanks for uploading !!
