More Drug Tests, More Places, More Often

Drug driving is a serious road safety issue. In the last five years approximately 41% of all drivers and motorcyclists killed who were tested, had drugs in their system, with cannabis and stimulants the most common substances detected. About 18% of drivers and motorcyclists killed in 2015 tested positive to THC, the active component of cannabis. In the past 5 years, approximately 13% of riders and drivers killed, who were tested, had anti-depressants in their system and 11% with stimulant/amphetamine type drugs such as ecstasy, speed and ice.

christ we urgently need an impairment-testing system, or at least a measure of quantity in the system. Ridiculous that any presence whatsoever is enough for a 6 month loss of licence. Why can't they test impairment first and only proceed to drug if deemed necessary?

ruining people's lives over NOT driving impaired? let's be honest, if they're talking about *something* that stays in your system - they're talking about something that is decriminalised already in a territory in Australia, is legal in many many places across the world, is recognised as medicinal and helpful for many people with chronic health conditions, will likely be legal in all of australia at some point, and does not impair beyond five hours. what heroes. *slow clap*
