The fact that Aventurine is genuinely a good person shiuldn't be too astonishing to me, seeing as how he does everything for the IPC even though he's not only INSANELY smart, but also lucky. But it just is! He's so good at playing the villain that if you didn't see his backstory, you would've just brushed him off as some lacky to be kicked in.

His life is the chip he gambles. The pawn in a game of Chess that is just so mezmerizing, so ready to be taken, that the opponent doesn't even realize he's been checked and mate. Aventurine's teammates will finish what he started, and he knows that, but he is so selfless or/and so intelligent that he doesn't care (too much) about his safety so long as it gets the win in the end.

In other words: "Nah, WE'd win."

For me he is the depiction of a person getting hated for no reason in society, barely hanging by a thread and keeping everything together all to himself because he had no one else anyways. And I relate to him in such way. Reason why I teared up during his cutscene with kakavasha. In the end, the reason he kept trying to survive was not only because of his love to his family but his love for himself.
