What I miss in the whole story is that ChatGPT 3.5 is a service with limited knowledge up to 2021, whereas GPT-4 has internet access and is therefore up-to-date. That's a world of difference, isn't it?

GPT4 is absolutely hopeless compared to 3.5. I use it for a lot of various tasks, mostly writing. 3.5 has its faults, but it at least usually does what you ask. GPT4 is dumber than a box of rocks. It is very much like Bard insofar as it conjures "facts" our of thin air and simply ignores you when you give it explicit instructions to write things a certain way. I gave up after four attempts earlier to get it to write a discussion style piece when it just kept listing key points and telling me what a good job I;d done writing the instructions to it. I went back to 3.5 and it did what I asked straight away.
