In part 6 of the ownership review of the 2023 BMW R1300GS I lay out the brutallly honest pros and cons to owning and riding this bike after 4 months. Is it really better than a Ducati Multistrada, KTM 1290 Adventure, Triumph Tiger 1200, Honda Africa Twin, and the outgoing R1250GS? Let me explain why this is the best GS ever, despite a lot of misinformation out there. #advrider #adv #motorcycle #bmw #r1300gs #r1250gs #bmwgs

Ian, please don’t ever change your down to earth, concise and quickly informative waffle-free presentations.

I personally wouldn't buy a big GS simply because my bike budget doesn't allow for it. My Tuareg does everything I need for half the price.
BUT, I can still admit without any hard feelings, that the GSs are without any doubt the absolut Kings of allround motorcycles. Their capabilities are absolutely astonishing and I would congratulate anyone who told me that they just bought one

After 20 odd years of everyday riding, my last bike was a Transalp that I sold in 2011. Since then and for 12 years I haven't rode even once! Last week I decided to test ride the GS 1300. Went to the dealership, signed the papers, collected all my courage and jumped on the seat. And lo and behold the miracle happened, the whole riding program reloaded on my brain in one second! Off I go then, and the bike is a-m-a-z-i-n-g! What a beast of a machine! I would never have guessed technology went so far! I think I'm getting it! Thank you for this review!

I own a R1300GS, Trophy with all options. I absolutely love the power, torque and the overall handling. The adaptive cruise works great, blind spot monitors work great and the adaptive ride height works great. just over 1 month ago (bike has just over 2000 miles) I went outside to ride my bike, complete loss of any electrical power, couldn't even unlock the steering lock without a jump. I contacted BMW roadside assistance and they had a tow truck out within a few hours to have my bike taken to the nearest shop (same dealership I bought it from). My bike is still there. Bike arrived 09/04 and it's now 10/14. During its long stay at the shop they did the starter relay recall and then also noticed the rear suspension was saying the reservoir was over full. Dealership ordered the replacement reservoir for the suspension but it still has not arrived but sounds like an easy enough fix. However, the only reason the bike is even there is still not fixed even after being there for over a month. The service writer claims the techs are working with BMW trying to figure out the loss of power and why the battery went dead. At one point I was told the bike may have a 1/2 amp draw when all is off. Then I was told the tech may have read the instrument wrong. Anyways, I'm now working with BMW customer support on either getting a new bike entirely or them working directly with the dealer to get the issue resolved. Not here to bash the bike, I absolutely love it! Not sure anymore truly what to do now....not quite sure if trust it...what if more problems down the road. We'll see what is offered through BMW.

Ian, its so refreshing to see a Youtuber who actually does their job! you put your money where your mouth is! the most in-depth honest reviews talking from a background of not taking a bike for a day or a weekend but actually living with a bike for a few months that you have purchased, I work in the motorcycle industry and I always push my customers to view your video's as they are to the point and informative!

The fact that other channels do brief ill informed videos to the masses makes your content stand out! this channel isn't click bait material it is true informative automotive journalism.

Keep up the Awesome work!

Ian, on YouTube you have to be one of (if not the most) serious bike reviewer and the most invested. You really put these bikes to the test all around and we thank you for that. Cheers from Greece!

I just returned from a week long rental of a GS 1300 in Germany and Italy. I agree with all of your comments and critiques. It was the best bike I have ever ridden. We were 100% on roads and it handles awesome. By the way we had a member of Champ School along with us also on the GS. Nice informative, insightful, and balanced feedback video, Ian.

TPMS needs to be on all bikes. Ian you're killing it. You talking about motorcycles, gear, and riding them is like a serenity sound generator. Soothes my soul. It keeps the motorcycle conversation going on days when it doesn't make sense to ride given life's routine. It's not easy to amass tons of subs in a relatively short timeframe in the motorcycle content segment, but keep going. Before you know it you'll be at a million and I think are the technical, realistic, and less-artsy equivalent of Fortnine. You have a niche and you're killing it. Let's

I’ve been watching all GS1300 reviews I can find here on YT and this (the entire playlist) is, by far!!, the best and most useful piece of reliable source of information I could find so far. Thanks for doing this! Keep going.

Ian, this is an awesome review. I am a 2022 GS1250 owner. I was in Riverside BMW on Saturday getting a new rear tire on Saturday and looking at the new bikes. They had a green one that really looked pretty nice.

Adaptive seat height. I had an '05 Gs for 110, 00Km over 10 years. At 5'8"1/2 the bike was always High. I learned how to handle it.Did coast to Coast tro Coast 2 up ...42 days on the road. The height and the top heaviness never years later I ride a 23 year old R 1150 R and the joy of reaching the ground No more dropping anxiety. The height and the top heaviness never ever disa[pears. I sat on the 1300 with the adaptive suspension....Forgot i was on a Gs. I agree 10000% that it is a game changer.

I just bought a couple used bikes from the local BMW dealer. I sat on the new GS. It was a lot heavier to get off the side stand than I thought it would be. I don't need the crazy power. I like my V85TT for the price and performance and weight.

As a UK owner of a R1300GS TE, I can't disagree with any of that. Thank you for providing level headed, balanced and informative reviews.

Nice job. I ordered one 6 weeks ago with all the right options and container ship arrived in NJ today. Rode 1300 with Edelweiss on Pyrenee ACT and it was terrific. Can’t wait, have boxes with LR bags, TaT rack and CW lights in the garage ready to go. Keep up the great reviews.
