But last year in 2020, when California was burning down _(and the air in our cities were worse than places like Delhi at its worst)_ we all laughed at him when he suggested trimming the underbrush.
Which is exactly what's being done right now.

Loggers in Northern California have been saying this forever.

The gov used to do it when I was a kid. (The forestry service and Cal fire) this isn't at all new. However they lessened this practice about 20+- years ago cause "environmental concerns" and budget cuts.

This is what happens when you stop properly managing the forests. They're way too thick nowadays, when they light they burn hot and fast.

You used to burn the mast near forests for the health of the forest itself. It takes away the fuel and creates healthy soils awhile afterwards.
