A 2-fer POTA activation with Penntek TR-35 QRP

I biked from Floral City FL to the Withlacoochee Forest (K-4646) along the Withlacoochees Trail (K-3667) in central Florida for a 2-fer activation with the Penntek TR-35 and (tr)uSDX QRP transceivers.

The TR-35 has the new built-in CW memory feature that will begin being shipped with all TR-35's today.

Update: The retractable feet can be found here:

Good outing. Cool TR-35. Much enjoyed and now subbed!

Looks just as beautiful as the General James A. Van Fleet State Trail and seems to have the same feel. I haven't biked either, I have to ease back into biking just as easily as I do copying CW being out of both for 35 years. No one wished they worked more hours at their career job, but we all wished we biked and played ham radio more!!! I ordered a TR-35 a couple days ago, I am pretty excited, but have no way to solder easily in our 23' RV, it will be all picnic table operating for me until I have learned enough to do a POTA activation. Cheers & 72, Dave - KU9L

Update: I see that Lectric has a new trike eBike with front and rear baskets, that might be a good candidate for a POTA bike for old guys like me with torn ACLs that want some exercise and a little POTA action if the route requires a bit of travel. I have been playing with my Penntek TR-35 and will be pruning my KM4ACK antenna next, plus looking to get one of the Hamsticks. Davey - KU9L

I hope in your retirement, you start doing more of these videos, John! Looks like a beautiful spot. Next time bring some snax for the sheep! Ha ha!

I checked my QRZ logbook and found I have 5 QSOs in there with you :) Subscribed. BTW I ordered the TR-45L. I hope it is as decent as this rig. 72 de AI5DD

Congratulations on a great activation and video. I have a TR-35, and I love it. I used it today activating K-9000 - 25 contacts in 30 minutes, all on 40m. I built a linked EFHW to go with the rig. 2 links makes it resonant on all bands and I don't have to carry a tuner. I have to figure out memories because keying everything keeps me really busy. 73 de Brian - K3ES

Can you provide a link to where you purchased the tilt feet?

I like the radio. Jus think 379 for a built unit is too high. I like the sound

I'm starting to do bicycle mobile myself and have a couple of short videos. Might get out and do one tonight using a mirror mount on my bike with 4 radials attached with either my Hustler 40 or 20 meter antenna. I am curious what mount you used for your hamstick. I also do QRP and was going to take my (tr)uSDX and SW-3C possibly. If not, I'll bring the x6100 and do CW. Thanks for the video! 73 de KN3A.

If anyone knows what the name/category of the white "enclosed bike" is in the video, please drop me a comment. I'd love to know more about it but don't even know what to Google to get info...

Curious how you mounted the Hamstick to the bike. Did you use any additional grounds radials? or does the bike chassis cover it? That video had several "cool" factors. Thank you and 73. K1QS.
