TV7 Europa Stands: One-Year since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine; Situation Assessment – February 2023

This week marks exactly one year since Russian forces mounted a full-scale invasion of its Western neighbor, Ukraine - an act of aggression which seemingly caught much of the world by surprise despite repeated actions and rhetoric indicating Moscow’s ill intent, which included the unopposed annexation of Crimea eight years prior.

In contrast, the Western response, despite intensifying fractures that emerged amongst NATO member states - which reached an all-time-low in the aftermath of its disengagement from Afghanistan- clearly caught the Russian leadership by surprise as the once faltering NATO alliance managed to reemerge by tightening its ranks in firm support of Ukraine’s sovereignty and national integrity.
