S Fionou Apple mě seznámila moje velká kamarádka z VOŠky, Eliška Walsh, který chci proto tuhle nahrávku věnovat. Fiona mi nejvíc mluvila z duše v temných chvílích mýho života. Má za sebou hodně bolestný věci a v její hudbě je to slyšet. Myslím, že moje přirozenost (anebo zvyklost??) je hudbou spíš “svítit” než zatahovat lidi do jejich temných koutů duše - i když z nich samozřejmě taky čerpám. Ale poslední dobou mi došla jedna věc: že jsem Fioně hrozně vděčná, že si skrz její hudbu můžu ty svoje temný místa a zvířata v sobě daleko víc prožít, uvědomit a připustit si, že je úplně v pořádku a dokonce nutný být občas úplně down, že i ta “nemocnost” má svou nenahraditelnou hodnotu, aby člověk pak dokázal popadnout svý síly a k něčemu se zmobilizovat, posunout. Vlastně jsem jí začala trochu závidět, že si ve svým projevu dovolí pustit se do takovejch temnot. Chtěla jsem si původně zkusit nějakou Fioninu opravdovou “tvrďárnu”, ale nakonec si mě sama chytla pod krkem píseň spíš něžnější. Objevila jsem verzi, kde ji zpívá s doprovodem kytaristy Blakea Millse, zamilovala se do jeho úpravy a prostě se ji musela naučit jako kytaristickou výzvu. Ta jejich nahrávka je navíc úžasně roztomilá!! Fiona se v ní drží za ruku se svojí (asi) babičkou a do pokoje pořád někdo leze a ruší, ale oni to dotáhnou až do konce, na konci se přidá i babička. Jako skrytej odkaz jsem to točila na gauči u svý mámy Jitka Zárubová. No a “tvrďárna” bude třeba někdy příště. Opět ď. m. Štěpán Janoušek za edit zvuku! 💋
Fiona Apple was introduced to me by my very good friend from Ježkárna, Eliška Walsh, whom I’d like to dedicate this recording to. Fiona has talked “from my soul” always in the dark moments of my life. She’d experienced a lot of painful things and you can hear it in her songs. I think my nature (or habit??) is to rather “shine” with my music than take people to the dark corners of their soul (although they are my source as well). But recently I’ve realized, that I am so grateful to Fiona to be able to experience my dark places and beasts through her music even deeper, realize and accept them. It’s alright to be totally down sometimes and the illness is needed to be able to grab your strenght again, recover and move on. I even became a bit “envious” of Fiona, that she allows herself to be so depressive in her expression in her songs. I originally wanted to try some of her “harder” songs, but then spontaniously I was cought by a bit more tender one. I also found a home video, where Fiona is singing it accompanied by a guitarist, Blake Mills, I fell in love with his arrangement and just had to learn it as a guitar-challenge. In addition, this recording is the most cute one!! Fiona is sitting on a couch with (probably) her grandma, holding hands, and constantly someone is distrubing by entering the room and making noises, but they make it untill the end, where the old lady joins the singing. I recorded the song on my mom’s couch, as a hidden allusion. Some “harder” song you’ll get some other time from me 💋

This is beautiful! Really interesting chord choices. I tried this one too but used the major scale and pretty much ruined it. haha! Always loved this song and really glad you didn't add another "I'll know" at the end. Drives me nuts when people do that, they miss the point of the song!
