Gold leaf gilding - 22 carat gold leaves (OIL GILDING TECHNIQUE)

Here you can see the gold leaf gilding process made by 22 carat gold leaves. It's quite interesting to see the way the leaf has to be lying down on the pillow using special tecniques. To gild an antique picture frame reproduction like that you need about 18 books of gold.

Hello sir what did you use for glue for the gold leaves

Do you seal or clear coat it with anything? I made a brass sculpture and used 23 K leaf, I could still scratch the leaf of with my fingurenail so I clear coated it like the rest of the sculpture. I tried to burnish it with the paper but it rubbed away.

Wow you made it look easy. Superb technique Sir! Recently I have project that force me to learn the gilding technique, at first i thought how hard it could be? Boy was I wrong.

Seeing you gilded like that, made me want to learn more about this technique. What is the purpose pillow like that you lay the leaf ? Is it must have tools for gilding? Is it special made or anyone can buy in a shop ?
