Ms. Bolen was the former Vice-President of Daytime Programming at NBC, which she had held from 1972-78. She was responsible for Merv Griffin having created _Wheel of Fortune_, which had formally aired January 6, 1975, just three days after _Jeopardy!_ was canceled by NBC.
