NASA is really good at going to space, amongst other things, but did you know that part of their mission is to work also for the public good!? It’s part of NASA’s doctrine that they must release the patents on the stuff they work on, which has, over the years, given us some really awesome things you would have never thought have come from NASA! There’s also some CRAZY stuff they’ve worked on that will very likely define your future! Watch this episode of Space Time to find out what’s next for your future and for NASA!

It infuriates me when people say NASA is a waste of money. NASA has been consistently one of the best investments this country ever made...

As an amputee my favorite spin-off is strong, lightweight materials for building structures (like prosthetic limbs).

This is my favourite show on YouTube, I hope you will be able to make them more frequent

Telecommunications was made possible with NASA satalites.
Ionisation smoke detectors were also developed by NASA.

I absolutely love the show so far! Everything's professional, simple and interesting :) I would however appreciate more episodes about serious science (the "spacetime" ep is my absolute favourite!) with actual equations etc.
Thanks!

As an airline dispatcher planning flights around North America (and based in San Francisco) the technology regarding fog in aviation is a big one. As a former (and hopefully future) firefighter I can say that having infrared/thermal cameras inside a burning building can be a huge help! And hey, I also like my memory foam mattress too :P

Hmm. I'm watching episodes nonstop since I found this channel almost an hour ago... and this episode gave me the answer to why I enjoy it so much... I do not need to speed up playback... as the speaker does not waste my time by talking super slowmo

About the poll: there are a lot of channels talking about pop culture science, too much of it. It's cool once in a while, but only if it is something REALLY worthy to talk about and you got really excited and want to tell people about it. Otherwise, I prefer to keep things like they are, your channel is awesome this way. :)

Great video. I love pointing out these examples when people bring into question whether or not NASA deserves all of its funding. One of my favourite NASA creations are space blankets, something that may well have saved my life after falling in the water during an icefishing trip

I need that workout chair right now. I could get ripped just by watching PBS Space Time in my NASA approved vibrating workout chair.

Don't take this the wrong way, but the map/globe thing in your intro is bugging me. It's supposed to be a globe/map spinning, right? So why use the Mercator projection? There are much better projections available. It's super minor, but worth mentioning.

Sincerely, someone who loves maps.

I'm 14 seconds into the show. "If you were born after the 1990's ..." Wasn't Tang a spinoff of NASA? I drank that in 1975 or so. Love the show BTW. Oh. I'm wrong. "General Foods developed Tang in 1957, and it has been on supermarket
shelves since 1959. In 1962, when astronaut John Glenn performed eating
experiments in orbit, Tang was selected for the menu, launching the
powdered drink's heightened public awareness." -- NASA web site.

+PBS Space Time, good video but;
@3:10 It's not "dampening" it's damping.
&
@3:30 It's not "dampeners" it's dampers.
Dampening is something you would do to a cloth.

I believe gravity is the most underplayed force in science. Could you do a show on gravity in general? Gravity between earth and moon. Inside earth. Jupiter and earth. Asteroids and the sun. Warping of space-time. High density objects like neutron stars and black holes. Between galaxies. If you've already done this, point me in the right direction.

I'd kind of like to see an episode on propulsion technologies, both those currently in use and those that may be used in the near to far future.

I am a huge fan of AESOP and its advances with Endoscopic Surgery. This technology has actually helped me out personally 2 years ago. It shortened the recovery time of my surgery from 6-10 weeks to 4 weeks.
