Music education is also an extremely tough degree to pursue and Music performance is one of the most competitive professional careers in the world.

I want to live in a society where everything is affordable that people can afford to go to
Music school
And chase their dreams and if doesn’t work out they can do something else.

What’s the whole point of life if we can’t afford to have creatives be creative

I’m doing sound engineering, I get the world of music of which I love while also getting a degree that’ll get me something I can actually live off of

I think rather than not recommending music school, it's better to remind people that university is not job prep; it's education. For some people, that education is inherently valuable and doesn't need to be preparation for a job. With that in mind, it's easier to make the decision for you. Sometimes it can help you get a job, sometimes it won't. Heck, even computer science degrees are becoming less valuable. Degree does not equal job. It equals education. And that education may or may not always be helpful in getting a job.

I got a scholarship for three years of my computer programming dedication in high school. I started attending my local college for free (the tuition was free because of the scholarship). After my first few weeks, I hated the programming teacher's methods and quit. At the same time I signed up to try the introduction to music course and found it extraordinarily entertaining and enjoyable. After a couple weeks of thought and scraping together money, I decided I wanted to try playing instruments, despite never trying to before. Now, I'm almost a year in and I'm horrible at guitar, and my dedication has been on and off, but the love the environment and people I study along side. However, I'm able to basically get free lessons in electronic music production, piano lessons, guitar, and any other instrument really, I just took those ones so far. So, my time in college is less for a career and degree (after trading in computer science for a music degree) as it is introducing me to the world of performing music and improving my playing skills with actual instructors. I have been blessed, I suppose.

Berklee isn’t much different. A lot of them end up staying in Boston, playing in bands at the bars in and around Boston and teach music during the afternoon at music schools.

i plan to go to a music school to pursue jazz guitar, but only for personal growth on my instrument. i plan to actually have a career in sound and concert management. i go to a high school with a program that gives me the tools to do sound long term, and im fortunate enough to go to any school i’d like. if i have to go to college, why not do what i like? eventually id like to do education, but as long as i can keep playing guitar and play it well, ill be happy

I am a chef and when I used to do that for a job I knew lots of musicians with degrees.
Also lots of actresses and models, without degrees.

Keeping it real.
The moral here is that he works really hard.
He would succeed at any career with this much work.

I also have a BFA. My advice to anyone who wants to work in the arts: Learn you passion online through free or cheap resources, but pursue a degree in something that is related and useful.

If you want to be a story teller, don't get a degree in writing. Study writing, but get your degree in Cinematography. Or even get a business degree like marketing.

These skills will guarantee you a job and directly apply to your passion.
