(BR studio Debate) This scheme gives a real solution for our pension problem Part 2
Показать описание
Every day we hear about the ever-increasing pressure of taking care of the elderly. Heinz Wolff, emeritus professor of Brunel University shares his ideas, gives us the real solution and encourages to join Give&TakeCare CIC to build a happier and more secure society for everybody.
○ The Care and Support of frail elderly people in their own homes is in a state of crisis.
○ Combining the will to help as a volunteer, with making provision for one’s own old age will rebuild human relationships, which have torn apart by job imposed geographical mobility, smaller families and outliving friends.
○ Building a Care Pension by “paying” the premiums in HOURS (GATs), protects the investment from the erosion of inflation and the effect of financial crises.
The Country faces a number of challenges, economic, funding the NHS, defence, terrorism, minor wars and the increasing number of frail elderly people, who want to be cared for at home. The problems cannot be solved by government; it requires a degree of mobilisation of Society, to preserve our standard of living. The scheme suggested in the following material; is intended to improve the Quality of Life of frail elderly and possibly other vulnerable people. Care is of course already provided by Local Authorities, by charities and within families. Local Authorities have had their government grants severely reduced and expect further cuts, charities which depended on Local Authorities’ outsourcing, suffer for the same reason and families are smaller and become fragmented due to job related geographical dispersion. All this is happening against a background, of people living longer, so that the number of people and the intensity of care required are rising quickly. What it means is that as many people as possible who have some ability to provide Care and Support, should be prepared to give a few hours per week, to caring for someone, usually within walking distance.
The scheme, called Give&TakeCare provides a Care Pension for CareGiving people; for every HOUR they give, a special Bank account in their name, will be credited with an equivalent number of GATs (the new currency). In due course, when they need Care, they draw on this balance, to “pay” for Care, from the next generation, or give some of the GATs to parents or relatives, who are in great need.
The Interviews and literature I can send you, goes into much greater detail. The scheme will be administered by Give&TakeCare CIC, controlled exclusively by its membership and does NOT require external finance for its operation.
I need keen enthusiastic people who feel the same urgency to get something done, as I do.
Ideally they should have good connections to local charities, prepared to offer the Give&TakeCare CIC scheme to their members. There could be some financial assistance to the charities to assist with software, increase recruiting and to set up local administration.
