OUR SOCIAL ACTION PROJECT:
We decided to make a difference to the lives of the patients at Ipswich Hospital. The Hospital's 'multi-faith' garden needed some love and care, therefore we contacted local garden centres and gathered many perennials. Together, we transformed a garden frequently used by the patients at the hospital.
We believe the new garden will help the patients to recover and give them an area to relax. The garden gives the patients a feeling of escapism from their problems and worries due to the contrast of the plants to the interior of the Hospital, thus helping the healing process.
THE IPSWICH HOSPITAL CHARITY:
The Ipswich Hospital Charity exists in order to provide equipment, training and refurbishment above and beyond what the NHS can provide. The impact can be felt by patients, relatives and staff – we want to try and make the hospital a better place to be for everyone who uses it.
"Thanks to our dedicated, committed and loyal supporters, the charity is able to fund additional items of equipment, enhance facilities and conduct research to improve the patient experience and level of care already offered by the Ipswich Hospital NHS Trust. We promise to make the best use of each donation and we work hard to ensure that exceptional standards of supporter care are delivered to everyone who is kind enough to consider supporting us. You can be reassured that any donation, whatever its size and whether from patients, relatives or our local community is warmly appreciated."
Recent donations have bought:
- Memory boxes for children
- New ventilators for neonatal babies
- Refurbishment of wards - making them dementia friendly
- Otoscopes/aurascopes
- Handheld and bedside pulse oximeters
- A brand new seating area for the parent bay
- New furniture for parent bays in the neonatal unit
- Cannulation chair for the radiotherapy department
