Well. Now after Infinite has been released. Hold your breath. Its not half the Star Trek game compared to New Horizons. But that was quite predictable.

As I recall, Paradox games have a history of being heavily moddable. Also as you said, Star Trek modders are absolutely incredible with their passion, dedication, and skills. We'll definitely have amazing mods for this game after it releases.

Great video man, love your insight. I'll be picking this up as I haven't played a ST game since Birth of the Federation!

The only issue I have with the New Horizons mod is that it suffers greatly from the classic Stellaris late game slowdown, but it kicks in even earlier.
My favourite era is the TNG era, but it takes tens of hours to reach that stage because the game starts to chug quite heavily in mid game, worse than vanilla Stellaris, even on the smaller galaxies with less empires.
If the new game can solve that without cutting too much content out, it would be a huge plus.

I am a little worried that Paradox may have New Horizons removed when the release of Infinite draws closer to "protect" their sales potential.

I kinda hope Star Trek Infinite is just as moddable bc I think a Stellaris with a premade map and mission trees and decisions would be better with total conversions with a lot of lore like Legacy of the Old Republic

I doubt the new game will let me play the Ferangi or Suluban etc...

The other game only has 4 factions and is set in a specific time period vs the mod which had LOADS of playable factions and still has so many different time periods on top of that it is a free mod for Stellaris, seems like Paradox isnt doing nearly enough

Looks like it's just gonna be a reskin of Stellaris with some extra things... probably gonna be completely filled with DLC like every other Paradox game.

Star Trek Infinite is dead, with the new horizon mod you are better off because it is updated regularly.

It seems very strange to me that they only included 10 ship classes

They’re most likely using the Clausewitz engine which most Paradox games run off of.

From my understand and what devs and others have said that Infinite also sues the pardox stellaris engine and that infinite is just based around certain time frame of events nothing more or less and is more story driven so its a lite version of horizon - personally I like smaller ship sizes because star ships are not size of planets. the space stations and planets and suns should be larger models larger than the ships the other thing is there only main races that can be played and the size of galaxy is way way smaller its just delta nothing more or less. my biggest issue is that new horizon does not support new version of stellaris or least i get conflict errors all time. what I found interesting is that Nible giant with help of pardox was able to bring warp engines back into the stellaris game engine so I am surprise more modders have no brought back the old game play styles that use to be in stellairs when game was released sense that is exactly what infinite did, that screen that you show is nothing more than the trait unity tree but with bigger Icons and less options example if you took unity tree and only had two options for each empire which is what that shows in your video you could make icons and treet branch look way bigger than it does now where it has to be smaller due to amount of options in unity branch and each branch has to be its own tree example they removed the top part of the unity branch where you select an option and just took one aspect of unity like supremacy and made that the top thing you see when you open unity option. so really they turned unity option which had many trees and small icons into just showing one tree and made icons for that tree bigger. I mean you can go in and fundamental change the stellaris GUI and change sizes of books and where they are placed so forth what they look like. it take time but can do that. the biggest issue with both games right now is the fact that the game engine is only 32 bit process and not 64 and can only run on a single core. I really wish they put out a game version engine update that you could buy that would just over hual game engine and not change any of features in game of stellaris. which in past has been done by some game developers doing total engine overhaul but keep game mechanics and game same, they do this by making new engine and making new engine work with old code system and then import old game over new engine then release it as update or expansions, then latter on they can make changes to code it self as further expansions are sold. (where there is a will there is a way and there no such thing as problems only solutions that have not been thought of yet.) there is anther star trek mod its called star trek new civilizations

Stop lining the pockets of PARADOX, this is a PAID stellaris mod, and it doesnt have graphics, PARADOX doesnt spend a cent in graphics. The whole game is less than 9 gigs
